Bill McSweeney

Board Member

Bill joined the society board in 2024. He grew up in Christchurch and spent much of his youth tramping the mountains of Canterbury and the wider Southern Alps.

Bill lives in the Port Hills and after 35 years working as a General Practitioner in Christchurch he retired in 2023. He now spends a lot of his time working as a volunteer at Omahu reserve and loves the hands-on conservation work, working with other like-minded volunteers and also keeping fit through this work. His role on the board also gives him an opportunity to be involved in the planning, decision-making, and community engagement which is so important for the society.
