Finn has been a member of the Society's board since 2023, and was elected as Vice President in June 2024. He is completing his Masters of Climate Change Science and Policy at Victoria University and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Law from the University of Canterbury. He also serves as a committee member for the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River Network and chairperson of the Somerfield Residents Association.
Finn was born and raised in Christchurch and has deep links to the Port Hills. His great-great uncle Huia Gilpin was a curator of the Botanic Gardens, a founding member of the Summit Road Society and is the namesake for Gilpins Track. Kennedy's Bush was named for another member of his family, Thomas Kennedy.
He is passionate about the Port Hills, focused on supporting efforts to restore our degraded native ecosystems and build resilience to climate change. His vision is for the Port Hills to become a national exemplar of resilient, restored peri-urban nature.
